Physical Science:  Homework tonight is to read section 2 about ionic and covalent bonds.  Complete the questions and we will discuss tomorrow in class.  Tuesday-Thursday will be spent learning how to write chemical formulas and name them correctly.  This section builds off of previous material so if you’re not rock solid on metal/nonmetal identification, determining valence electron number and the individuals involved in ionic/covalent bonding then you need to get busy.  We plan to test on Friday.

General Science:  Chapter Review questions for Chp 11 are due tomorrow and we will be testing over the Chp.  We will be working from Chp 12 beginning Wednesday.  Please be checking your child’s grades online and if you see a D or F on the Chp 10 or Chp 11 test then they are in need of remediation.  If they do not learn the Chp 10 essentials, they will not be able to pass the next few tests.  As always, tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:15 or on an as needed basis.

Physical Science:  Students tested their cars today and should be making adjustments over the Christmas break.  Our actual race day will be Jan. 17.  The paper will be due on Jan 23.  Tuesday, 13th, the students will take an element symbol quiz.  Wednesday we will review for the semester exam and we will take it on Thursday.

General Science:  Students began Chp 9, Elements, Compounds and Mixtures.  If not finished in class, students should finish the graphic organizer for section 1 and questions on page 237.  We will begin to require graphic organizers to be completed for each section again.  Depending upon how fast students grasp the concepts we could test as early as Friday.  We will have a vocabulary quiz sometime this week over all three sections.

Physical Science:  Students discussed thermal expansion today and homework tonight is to read Section 2 and complete the section review questions.  Pinewood Derby sheets went home today detailing the paper and due dates for the car.  Afternoon sessions will be held to help students if they need assistance with the construction of their car.  We will be covering the remaining sections of Chp 16 this week.  We are scheduled to go to lab tenatively on Thursday.  We will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday.  We plan to test next Monday.  Chp review questions will be due on Monday.
